The major food waste crisis globally and how we as Americans can take action to help alleviate the discarding of food waste as we continue to strive for Global food security
Global food security is reliable access to affordable, healthy food in sufficient quantities. Food availability for everyone, regardless of class, gender, ethnicity, or religion.
We are devoting our time to help reduce food waste by collaborating with local retail stores to pick-up the food taken off their shelves and distributing it to our neighboring communities before the food expires.
Here are a few key facts highlighting our progress and why these changes are crucial for future generations.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) , food waste is a major global crisis and continues to impact our lives with economical and environmental challenges.
Scientific research found that approximately one-third of food production in America turns into food waste annually. The U.S ranks up to 40% of the food becomes waste. This amount is equivalent to approximately 108 billion pounds of food wasted annually.
When food is wasted, resources such as water, energy, and fertilizers used to grow the food are also wasted. As food decomposes in landfills, it emits methane. This is harmful to the environment and adds to greenhouse gas emissions.
In 2018, the EPA reported more food waste ended up in U.S. landfills than any other daily trash material. This equaled to about 14% of the food globally, at a value of $400 billion for that year.
Support our Mission and help alleviate food waste in our community.

Over-spending, poor planning, and food spoilage are key causes of food waste
